What MD1 is
MD1 is a Markdown editor for the Mac. It never rewrites text you did not touch.
Getting started
Press ⇧⌘O to open a folder. MD1 works on a folder rather than one file at a time, and opens that folder's README when it gets there. Files on the left, Markdown in the middle, preview on the right; ⌘1 / ⌘2 / ⌘3 collapse any of them.
The gestures worth knowing
- ⌥↑ / ⌥↓ — move the block the caret is in. A paragraph, a list item, a table row. Either pane.
- ⇧⌥↑ / ⇧⌥↓ — extend a block selection.
- ⌘-click — follow a link in the preview. A plain click puts the caret there, because the preview is somewhere you type.
- Help → Walkthrough — brings the introduction back.
Any of these can be rebound in System Settings → Keyboard → Keyboard Shortcuts → App Shortcuts, by the menu item's name.
Requirements
macOS 14 or later, Apple silicon.
Reporting a problem
Help → Report a Problem writes a file with the recent log and your version details. It contains none of your document's text, and you can read it before you send it. Send it to us via the contact form below.
